Autumn Embers

This piece was created by layering pieces of fabric and bits of yarn, then covering it all with fine netting, machine stitching in patterns that would accentuate the piece, and finally cutting away the excess. This process was then repeated as many times as was necessary.

Autumn Embers is based on a photo I took, on a cloudy day, walking down a gravel road, and the only colour was this beautiful pop of red - this maple leaf in the middle of the road.
