Strange Fruit

This 4"tall bowl with a diameter of 14" was wet felted over a large exercise ball with shades of green and yellow Merino wool. After fulling it was carefully shaped and dried then further stiffened with a dilute solution of a high-strength Polyvinyl Acetate (PVA) adhesive. The adhesive is water-based and non-toxic. This provides some water-resistance and aids shape retention.

The fruit pods were wet felted over a small round resist with natural white Merino wool and include a short wire stem.
They were then dyed and steam set before being shaped, dried, and embellished with hand dyed felt balls and curly locks.
