Art and Art Therapy in Lambton County
The title of this painting is Art and Art Therapy. This 18" x 24" painting in acrylic watercolour on canvas was inspired by my own life experience with ovarian cancer in 2004. This year, I am creating a series of self-portraits illustrating my life stages. This painting was painted and completed in January, 2023 after a recent health scare. In this painting I am reflecting on my mortality, but also raising awareness to the benefits of art therapy to express hopes and fears when confronted with a serious health issue or trauma in one's life. I know this to be true as I was a Registered Art Therapist for years providing art therapy to adults and children in Lambton County. Although I retired in 2017, I continue to joyfully draw and paint everyday.
