Can't See The Forest For The Trees
"Can't See The Forest For The Trees" is 24" x 48" painting in acrylic on canvas. The painting was inspired by a camping trip to Inverhuron Provincial Park and hiking on the Chain Trail. It was a memorable trail for it's interesting undulating trees and dolomite limestone rock faces. I enjoyed the glorious warm light falling and reflecting on the bare trees. I used a lot of yellow ochre, burnt sienna and violet to illustrate the rough terrain and rockscapes. I tried to capture the shadows falling on the forest floor. It was one of the most complex and intriguing trails I have ever walked.
